Frequently Asked Questions
-What’s the difference between the private vs the non-private charters?
Well, the non-private charters are generally cheaper because their profit comes in the bulk. In other words, you pay a bit less, but you share your trip with many other passengers....usually 40+ passengers. They have a minimum of passengers as well, which tends to be at least 15. If that number isn’t reached, they don’t have the quorum to do the trip. Because of these same reasons, non-privates basically do two stops during their trip: one for beach and one for snorkeling. Since there’s so many people on the boat, you cant really please everyone...it’s imposible. So they divide the day between those two stops. If you particularly wanted more time of beach or a little more snorkeling, then you’re out of luck. Some charters provide the gear, food, cameras or drinks you need, but most non-essential things (beer, cameras, etc.)tend to be charged as extras...and it tends to get pricey pretty quick. Non-privates have also a hard time feeding their guests because not everybody likes the same thing. So usually the best thing they’ve come up with would be serving cold cuts, bread, salads and an assortment of cheeses so everyone can make their own sandwich. Even the music on non-private trips has to be generalized, to the liking of most, but not all passengers. Again, you cant please everybody...
Private trips, on the other hand, go out with as little as one or two passengers. Usually a maximum of 6. In our case, where we have two identical boats, we can then bump up our trips to a capacity of up to 12, if needed, with an extra Captain. We do NOT share your trip with other strangers nor do they have to reach a certain quantity of passengers to do the trip. Also private charters are usually done on a smaller boat, which if you have the right size, it might not actually be a bad thing, because these that can then get much closer to the beach or to that really cool spot where nobody else is. Private charters tend to be more pampering, and have the perfect scenario to customize your experience to something much more to your liking, in terms of a specific menu, your selection of appetizers, a warm, pre-selected bbq meal made right there and then, just for you, specific drinks of your preference, and even a nice fruit platter and of course, even some nice afternoon Puertorrican coffee. In our case, in terms of gear, we include all the gear you might need , as well as a GoPro waterproof action camera with extra batteries and even a selfie stick for you to take all the best quality pictures or video memories you’d like on your trip. On private trips, you are also the owner of your own time; so if you want to do all snorkeling, all beach, or a combination of both, spending however amount of time you’d like on each spot, you can certainly do so. So basically on private trips, you can do what you want, for as long as you want, listen to your own music, eat and drink the stuff you like...basically a Taylor-made trip, built just for you and your family.
