Things to know before booking a Culebra Trip
Culebra Island is a remote location (32 Nautical Miles/40 minutes to 1.5 hrs travel time, depending on weather conditions). Compared to our other destination, the local islands of Cordillera del Este Natural Reserve (3 Nautical miles/10-15 minutes travel time) its definitely a much longer trip.
It is our duty to inform you that for these trips to Culebra our boats go through choppier waters that may not be appropriate for everybody. Elderly, young children (must be over 6 y/o), pregnant women, or people with back and neck issues or recent heart surgery should avoid these tours.
For expecting mothers, seniors and children, ages 3 to 6, we recommend our other tours to the nearby LOCAL islands of the Cordillera del Este Natural Reserve.
More preparations have to be done other than the ones we do for our nearby trips. This is why the following terms must take place in order to do these trips:
-Trip duration is a full day, (8-hours). Usually Includes one beach & one snorkel stop, but we are Taylor-made, so ultimately you tell us what you want.
-Its a longer trip so you HAVE to be here early. Must be at marina at least at 7:45 AM. Boat departs at 8 am sharp & arrives at 4:00pm.
-Despite our best efforts to do so, we might not always get to our destination due to adverse weather conditions. If this were to occur, for your safety, the Captain may decide to turn back. But in those instances, and so you don’t miss out, instead of returning to the marina, the tour gets re-fitted to spend the day on the Local islands of the Cordillera del Este Natural Reserve instead. This is our other, much closer destination and it is right on the way to Culebra. So turning back will get you there immediately. There’s no extra travel time. In these situations, your price gets re-adjusted to the appropriate full-day price for the Cordillera del Este Natural Reserve trips. This way you don’t loose your beach day.
What to Bring: towel, bathing suit, sunscreen (aerosol not allowed; makes the deck very slippery & thus, prone to accidents), & a dry change of clothes.
Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of credit card information. Cancellations will be considered if made 24 hours or more before trip date. No-Shows will be charged full tour to your credit card. All tours are weather permitting. Our captains constantly monitor the weather and sea conditions to ensure your safety. In the event of a canceled tour due to weather and/or sea conditions, a representative will contact you to reschedule the trip. If this is not possible, all payments are refunded in full.

So what happens if it’s too rough to go to Culebra?
(...and some other stuff you might not know)
Believe it or not, there’s different DRNA (Dept. of Natural Resources) permits for each group of islands. A company that says they have the permits for one island DOES NOT necessarily mean they have the permits for another. And the DRNA permits for the nearby islands of the “Cordillera del Este” are actually much harder to get than the ones for Culebra. So not all companies have permits for these. Of course what this means is that in days where there’s rough weather, these other Companies have to, either cancel on you and return you to the dock, or go into the LOCAL islands of the nearby Reserve Illegally and jeopardize getting caught and receiving a heafty fine (Yup, with you on-board!!).
Well, we’re glad to tell you that this doesn’t happen with Serenity Sea Tours!
We have permits for ALL the islands so we DO NOT have to risk getting exposed to fines with our beloved clients on board. You do not deserve that!
This is is why it pays to go with a fully certified Charter Company such as ours. If it’s too rough for us (or for you) to cross to Culebra, we simply (or you simply tell us to) turn back and come in to the calm waters of the beautiful nearby “Cordillera del Este” islands, we adjust your price and have an awesome, full-day experience there for you! No need to turn back to the dock!!
Save yourself the hassle of having the uncomfortable experience of getting pulled off by Law Enforcement and forcing you to cancel your trip and return to the dock, along with an expensive fine.
NOT ALL CHARTERS ARE THE SAME...Support your local DRNA-certified Charters.

Cancellation policy:
Guests have 48 hours prior to trip to make their cancellation for whatever reason, for full amount to be refunded.
Weather-related cancellations:
Puerto Rico is a tropical island. Hence, Tropical weather almost always includes some passing rain and/or scattered showers, so ultimately we do not cancel trips because of rain. This said, aside from a little rain, there’s obviously other factors involved and hence, naturally, all tours are weather permitting.
Our captains constantly monitor the weather and sea conditions to ensure the safety of our guests. In the event of constant, more than regular passing rain, severe wind, or more prominent rain including thunder & lightning, or any other deteriorating weather factors, a canceled tour due to weather and/or sea conditions might be imminent.
If this were the case, our captains will make the call and contact you to cancel or postpone your trip (if possible). If there are no other dates possible for rescheduling, full amount of reservation will be refunded.
